Owen Wilson, Kim Kardashian, Rami Malek and Jason Sudeikis will host during the upcoming season of Saturday Night Live reported by CNN. NBC plans to livestream the show on Peacock for the first time as they launch their 47th season.
The Change for SNL
SNL has evolved over the years as younger viewers increased their demographic ratings. With NBC’s plan to livestream the show, new and exciting content is expected. Back in the day, SNL typically reached people with traditional TV sets. Nowadays, people have access to streaming platforms with just a tap of a button. Now SNL can reach a broader audience as they intended with livestreaming. In the 2020-2021 season, the show became the most-watched entertainment program. Among the viewers was mostly the preferred demographic for advertisers. The range consisted of people between the ages of 18 and 49.

As revealed, Owen Wilson will host first on Oct. 2. Wilson has certainly gained attention from his role in Loki, the Marvel series on Disney Plus. He is partnered with Kacey Musgraves who recently released a new album. Next up is Kim Kardashian who will host on Oct. 9 with the show’s guest performer as Halsey. Then actor Rami Malek makes his SNL debut Oct. 16. Additionally, Young Thug will appear as the musical guest. Lastly, Jason Sudeikis (a member of SNL between 2003-2013) is set to host on Oct. 23. Along with musical debut from Brandi Carlile. This is first time hosting debut for all four celebrities.
Lorne Michaels (creator and executive producer) teased Sudeikis’ appearance at the 2021 Emmys. However, NBC has not revealed any details regarding new or returning cast members for the upcoming season. The 47th season launches Oct.2 and airs live on NBC and Peacock.
