Drugs in Michael Jackson’s System Revealed

The world stood in shock and awe in 2009 when it was announced that the King of Pop had died. News surrounding the cause of death, the drugs administered, and who should be held responsible has been a large public controversy. Thought of as invincible and larger than life, the public suddenly became aware of the legend’s own mortality on that sad day in June.

It is well known that the reason for Jackson’s death was related to a drug overdose.  It was determined that he died from acute Propofol intoxication.  Propofol is used in the medical field as a sedative and does not have any analgesic (painkilling) properties.  It is used to help patients relax prior to a surgery and administered with other analgesic drugs.

Now in the second week of the Michael Jackson wrongful death trial, the jury is learning more about the amount of the sedative in his system at the time of death. It is said that the amount of Propofol found in his body was “consistent to a major surgery with anesthesia.”

In addition, the trial has also exposed several other drugs found in Jackson’s body.  It was recently revealed that he tested positive for Lidocaine, an anesthetic, and sedatives Lorazepam, Midazolam, and Diazepam. Lidocaine is used in minor surgeries as a local anesthetic to relieve pain, itching, and burning. The infamous Pepsi commercial accident in which Jackson’s hair caught fire left him in chronic scalp pain throughout his life. It is also well know that he was a victim of physical and emotional abuse as a child. These factors can be the reasoning for him to begin experimenting with sedatives and anesthetics.

In upcoming trial dates, Sharon Osborne will be called to testify. She claims that certain people working under AEG had acknowledged the fact that Jackson was not in good condition but neglected to take action because they considered it his business to deal with. Osborne publicly announced last month that she would be more than willing to testify in the case.
