The Michael Jackson unlawful death trail continued on with a testimony from Jackson’s long term makeup artist, Karen Faye, on both Thursday and Friday. During Faye’s testimony she recalled her dire concerns for Jackson’s health prior to his death on June 25, 2009. The makeup artist had seen an “emaciated” and “paranoid” Michael the night of a costume fitting on June 19, 2009. After the costume fitting Michael had become extremely cold, so cold that Faye had to wrap the King of Pop in multiple blankets next to a space heater, as well as using her own body heat to keep him warm.
“He couldn’t get warm. I had a space heater, (and) I put it next to him and put him on the sofa and wrapped him in blankets and held him very close to me,” Faye said.
Faye described to the court room an encounter that stylist Michael Bush had with Jackson during the costume fitting. The stylist had seen Jackson shirtless and told Faye “I can see Michael’s heart beat through the skin in his chest” She then went on to tell the jury how she had to watch the tour director, Kenny Ortega, try and feed the ultra-skinny singer chicken and plead with him to call a doctor.
During the makeup artist testimony, she recalled multiple incidents that had alarmed her about Jackson’s use of painkillers. She recalled the burn incident during a Pepsi commercial back in 1984, the stress brought upon him during the trial for his molestation charges, and lastly, the day of rehearsal before he died.
While being cross-examined, Faye said she did not have a single conversation with the Jackson family about his drug addiction, and that there was a period of time after Michael had been through rehab in 1993 that he had seemed fine.
Proceedings continued today with testimonies from the coroner who performed Jackson’s autopsy, as well as a staffer who worked on Jackson’s final production “This Is It”.
