Gal Gadot’s Biggest Challenge Filming Wonder Woman 1984

“Wonder Woman changed my life. It’s a different character and I portray many other characters that I love and I’m challenged by and I’m fascinated by but with Wonder Woman it’s just something else.” – Gal Gadot

“Let’s get to work and shoot something!,” proclaimed Gal Gadot when mentioning how she felt donning her iconic Wonder Woman outfit once again.

Reflecting the decadent style of the 1980s, Gal Gadot dons a new set of golden armor as Wonder Woman for the sequel however, it did come with a few setbacks as she explained .“The golden armor was not comfortable whatsoever, it looked great and I’m so happy with the result but to shoot and perform and move and act it was challenging,” she said. “The Wonder Woman costume, the original one is always nice to wear.”

“It’s not about what I have to say, I got so privileged and I’m so grateful for being the vessel who gets to play and portray this iconic and amazing character,” said Gadot when expressing the magnitude of portraying such an important hero for women and young girls worldwide.

“She means so much to so many of us because of her set of values. She’s all about love, hope, and compassion and all the good things that we all aspire to have,” added Gadot.

On December 15 Warner Bros released the first ten minutes of the film as a teaser. Gadot expressed how seeing the opening of the film for the first time made her feel.

“I got very emotional watching the first 10 minutes of the movie. When you see young Diana (Lilly Aspell) running around doing all the crazy amazon games. Suddenly I wasn’t Gal the actress, producer, or the woman. I was Gal the 10-year old girl who’s watching another 10 year old doing these amazing things that I’ve never got to witness as a person, as a human being,” said Gadot.

Gadot spoke to the importance of representation of women in films, “I think this is part of the reason why it’s so important we’re putting these types of movies out there because we can lay the dream to the next generation and what their potential is.”

Commenting on director Patty Jenkins’ approach to the film, Gadot said “This one was the hardest movies I’ve ever got to do, it was important for Patty that we do a minimum amount of CGI in the movie. Which was great but I just meant that as the actors we had to do so much more and if we couldn’t do it then our wonderful stunt team came into the place and then took over.”

Being able to go toe to toe with the likes of Superman and Doomsday is no small feat so getting battle-ready took on another meaning for the star. “Let’s just say the physicality of everything was just another character for me in the movie. We trained every day, we rehearsed every day, we learned new choreographies every day it was a lot,” said Gadot.

Gal Gadot closed by reflecting on the importance that the role of Wonder Woman has meant for her. “Wonder Woman changed my life. It’s a different character and I portray many other characters that I love and I’m challenged by and I’m fascinated by but with Wonder Woman it’s just something else. She’s completely changed my life and I’m forever grateful that I have this amazing opportunity,” said Gadot.

Gal Gadot, Kristen Wiig, Chris Pine, and Pedro Pascal star in Wonder Woman 1984, releasing in theaters and on HBOMax, Christmas Day 2020.
