Jon Favreau to Direct Disney Reboot of ‘The Jungle Book’

John Favreau is lined-up to direct the live adaption of the animated Disney classic The Jungle Book.

Farvreau is well known for directing the Iron Man franchise and has reportedly agreed to a deal with Disney to direct the upcoming live adaption of the Rudyard Kipling classic.

“I can’t say that much, but there is an interesting take that could be very cool, and the hope is to relaunch a family brand with certain mythic elements,” Favreau told Deadline. “It is my first real family film since Elf, and there are action elements and visual effects that I feel like my experience on the Iron Man films are going to be useful.”

The Jungle Book reboot will still follow the 1967 animated classic tale of Mowgli, a young boy raised in the Indian jungle by animals, who is being convinced to return human civilization by Baloo the bear and Bagheera the panther.

Disney has not officially announced who will be producing or starring in the remake but has revealed that Justin Marks is currently working on the script. Production is expect to begin as early as next year.
