‘Jurassic World’ Heading to Theaters in June 2015

The long awaited fourth installment to the Jurassic Park franchise has received a release date and a new name!

Universal Pictures announced on Tuesday that Steven Spielberg and Colin Trevorrow will direct and shoot Jurassic World in 3-D, set to release on June 12, 2015.

Jurassic World, the fourth installment to the franchise, will reportedly have new dinosaur villains in the upcoming film. So far, only the release date has been confirmed by the studios.  There have been no official announcements made on whether or not any of the original cast members will star in Jurassic World.

The original Jurassic Park was released in 1993 and grossed over $1 billion worldwide at the box office.  The film won three Academy Awards and became one of the greatest sci-fi films ever made.  Its sequels, The Lost World: Jurassic Park in 1997 and Jurassic Park III in 2001, were also box office hits.

Earlier this year, the original Jurassic Park was re-released in 3-D and grossed $114 million worldwide; proving to naysayers that the Jurassic Park franchise is still strong after more than a decade since its last installment.
