Monument’s Men’ Opens With $550,000 Thursday Night

The Monument’s Men opened up Thursday evening earning $550,000 at the box office in 2,494 theaters across North America.

The film opened up early Thursday evening with showings starting at 7p.m across North America. The World War II comedy-drama starring George Clooney, Matt Damon, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Jean Dujardin, Bob Balaban, Hugh Bonneville and Cate Blanchett is projected to earn another $15 million to $20 million at the box office this opening weekend.

Monument’s Men, directed by George Clooney and co-financed by Sony and 20th Century Fox, is slightly behind Sony’s Captain Phillips, which earned $600,000 during it’s Thursday opening back in October.

Monument’s Men will be competing against Warner Bros. 3D animated film, The Lego Movie, which opened at the box office and already generated $400,000 Thursday evening.
