Pixar Announces Movie That “Takes You Inside The Mind”

From director Pete Docter comes an inventive new film that explores a world that everyone knows, but no one has seen: inside the human mind.

Pixar has caught a lot of flak the past few years for not having a female character star in any of their films.

Although Finding Nemo had Dory, Toy Story 2 had Jesse and Cars had Sally Carrera, none of Pixar’s films have had any female protagonist.

That is all about to change.

John Lasseter announced on PBS’s Charlie Rose, “Pete Docter, from Monsters, Inc. and Up, is doing a new film that takes place inside of a girl’s mind and it is about her emotions as characters, and that is unlike anything you’ve ever seen.”

Disney/Pixar’s official statement for the film reads:

Pixar takes audiences on incredible journeys into extraordinary worlds: from the darkest depths of the ocean to the top of the tepui mountains in South America; from the fictional metropolis of Monstropolis to a futuristic fantasy of outer space. From director Pete Docter (“Up,” “Monsters, Inc.”) and producer Jonas Rivera (“Up”), the inventive new film will take you to a place that everyone knows, but no one has ever seen: the world inside the human mind.

Becoming the “Golden Child” at Pixar after Up, Pete Docter has won an Oscar for “Best Animated Feature”, two Annie Awards, a BAFTA Children’s Film Award and a Hochi Film Award.

The film currently titled The Untitled Movie That Takes You Inside The Mind is set to open in theaters May 30, 2014.
