Reese Witherspoon Wants to Film 'Legally Blonde 3'

During an appearance on Lifetime’s Fashionably Late with Rachel Zoe on Thursday (October 22nd), Reese Witherspoon dished that the time for Legally Blonde 3 is now!

“I think we’re ready to see Elle and see what she’s up to lately,” said Witherspoon, responding to a fan question. “A lot of writers over the years have come up with different ideas for it. I actually think it’s kind of great right now because we’re talking about women in politics and how important that is to get more women.”

The 39-year-old Wild actress continued, “And I think it’d be kind of a cool thing to have [Elle Woods] be a Supreme Court Justice or somebody who runs for office, like president. With that said, I don’t know,” Witherspoon added, unsure if something is actually in the works. “Call MGM. I have no idea.”

Legally Blonde grossed $141 million worldwide when it debuted back in 2001, while Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde took in $124 million worldwide when it hit theaters two years later. The straight-to-video spinoff Legally Blondes premiered in 2009, and a Broadway musical based on the franchise debuted in 2007.
