Chris Brown Arrested, Charged With Felony Assault

R&B star Chris Brown had been doing a pretty good job keeping his hands to himself. The singer was arrested back in 2009 following an incident with his then-girlfriend Rihanna, where he pleaded guilty to a felony domestic violence conviction. Brown received a ton of criticism because of the incident, but the singer progressed – until recently. Apparently, this morning, the singer has once again lost his cool.

Brown was arrested and charged with felony assault earlier this morning (Oct. 27) for allegedly hitting a man in the face. The incident took place outside of a Washington, D.C. hotel. According to TMZ, Brown got into an argument with a man outside the W Hotel after leaving a party he was hosting at the nearby Park and 14th nightclub. Apparently, Chris punched the alleged victim in the face after hurling a gay slur. This is how witnesses are saying the incident went down:

A woman approached Brown in front of the W Hotel around 4:30 a.m. and asked to take a picture with him. As the pic was about to be taken, two men rushed over to get in the shot. At that point, Brown allegedly said “I’m not into this gay s**t, I’m into boxing,” and threw a punch at the victim in question. Brown’s bodyguard became involved in the fight and was also arrested.

Police spokesman Paul Metcalf confirmed that Brown was arrested and charged with felony assault. Brown will be held until court on Monday, since he is reported to be on probation and not eligible for release until seeing a judge. The male victim was injured and was reportedly taken to a hospital with injuries, later being released.

Since Brown is on probation in California, any arrest would be considered a violation of probation and could result in jail time.
