Is Garth Brooks Planning A Comeback?

Garth Brooks alerted fans last week with a cryptic message that was posted on his website that simply read, “The wait is over… 7/7.” Today, Brooks broadcasted yet another announcement that fans would be able to tune in to a live stream of his press conference that will take place Thursday, July 10th.

Last year, Brooks told Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts, “You know what, since it’s you and since we’ve had a history forever, let’s announce it. We’re going on a world tour in 2014. I can’t believe I just did that but you are a doll.”

It’s been 13 years since his last tour, when Brooks decided to take a hiatus in 2001 to take care of his children. After all these years, he proclaimed, “It sure feels good to get to throw your hat back in the ring.”

It is uncertain on what the announcement on Thursday will consist of, whether the country star will reveal more information about the said world tour or a possible new album.

In November of 2013, he released Blame It All on My Roots, an eight-disc box set, that featured dozens of newly recorded country, pop and R&B covers, but he hasn’t released an album of new original material since 2001’s Scarecrow.

The only confirmed shows on Brooks’ schedule are five sold out concerts in Ireland at Dublin’s Croke Park from July 25th to July 29th.

The Dublin city council recently denied permits for two of his planned performances in Ireland. Irish promoter Peter Aiken told the Irish Independent, “I can’t say for definite that the three shows are definitely going to happen.” Brooks has been quoted saying that he wants to play all five shows, or none of them at all.
