Justin Bieber Confirms Retirement Via Twitter

Justin Bieber confirmed on Christmas Eve that he is officially retiring from the music industry. The singer is backing up the statements he made on Los Angeles radio station Power 106 last week by posting on Twitter:

The timing of the retirement announcement seems a little strange, with the release of his new album Journals and movie Believe this month, but maybe he’s just trying to go out with a bang.

Believe director John Chu said in a recent Hollywood Reporter interview, “We can’t explain everything so we just tried to get to the heart of what happened to him in the past year. He’s gone through heartbreak, which for a kid at his age is huge.”  Adding, “I love Justin; he’s a really good kid. So when I see him struggle, it hurts me, too.”

A step back from the spotlight could do the 19-year-old pop star some good after being embroiled in international headlines all year long for numerous immature antics he has pulled.   Only time will allow Bieber the opportunity to re-invent himself if he wants to have a long-standing career like Justin Timberlake.
