Kate Bush to Perform First Show in 35 Years

Kate Bush has rarely been seen on stage since the early days of her career, but the singer is making a return. Bush, 55, will tour in August for the first time in 35 years when she launches what has been labeled the Before the Dawn tour, a series of shows scheduled in London. The singer announced the news of her reappearance on Friday, March 21, causing her website, katebush.com, to crash and her name to trend on Twitter.

The Before the Dawn tour is a stationary gig, with all shows happening at Hammersmith Apollo in London. Bush will play her first show at the venue on August 26, and follow with performances on August 27, 29, and 30, as well as on September 2, 3, 5, 6, 9, 10, 12, 13, 16, 17, and 19.

Bush retired from touring in 1979 after just one six-week tour. The alleged reasons for Bush’s absence from the road include perfectionism, physical exhaustion, fear of flying, and the death of her lighting director, Bill Duffield, who was killed in an accident during a concert. In a tragic event, 21-year-old Duffield fell 20 feet to his death while inspecting a darkened venue for Bush.

Kate Bush tickets will be available via Telegraph Tickets.
