Katy Perry’s “Roar” on Track to Sell +525,000 Downloads

Katy Perry’s new single “Roar” is on track to sell over 525,000 downloads.

Earlier last week, analyst predicted that Lady Gaga’s new single “Applause” and Katy Perry’s “Roar” would sell over 400,000 downloads by the end of the tracking period, which came to a close on Sunday night.

Now analyst are saying that Katy Perry’s “Roar” could sell between 525,000-550,000 downloads this week.  “Roar” has already been more successful than Gaga’s single “Applause” on iTunes and Amazon’s digital charts this past week.  “Roar” is now considered to become the highest-selling song of the year for Perry. The last time Perry sold over 500,000+ downloads was when she debuted her single “Firework” back in 2010, selling 509,000 downloads.

On Wednesday, August 21, Billboard will release the total number of sales calculated for the week of Aug 12-18, including Katy Perry’s “Roar” and Lady Gaga’s “Applause”.

Katy Perry will be performing her new single “Roar” at the 2013 VMAs on August 25th.  Her album Prism is set for release on October 22nd.
