Lady Gaga wants to break a record held by “supergroup” U2.

The band currently holds the record for the highest grossing tour of all time, selling an estimated 5 million tickets for 131 shows on their Vertigo Tour- earning the band $389 million in the process.

According to sources close to te pop singer, “As is always the case with Gaga, the plans came to her in her sleep. She has a target of 450 dates. It has never been done before, but she’s doesn’t think that’s a reason not to try.”

Gaga said in an interview last month that she has already worked on a stage design with the team behind Take That’s “Circus”‘ and “Progress Live” shows.

The two year tour is expected to launch in 2012 starting in Asia then trek around the globe.

Last year’s “Monster’s Ball Tour” grossed an estimated $227 million from 200 shows.
