New Blink 182 Music Is “Hundred Times Better” Than Previous

Travis Barker told Rolling Stone in a recent interview that Blink 182’s new music is “a hundred times better than Neighborhoods,” the band’s last album.  The punk rock trio plans to release new tunes by Christmas on a brand new digital EP.

Barker explained that the reason the new music is so much better is because Neighborhoods was recorded remotely, each band member emailed their recorded tracks from various locations across the country.

“There’s some songs on there that I love, but for the most part it was disconnected,” Barker told Rolling Stone about recording Neighborhoods. “It was like, ‘You do this part in your studio, and then you’re gonna play on it and send it back to me.’ When we’re not in the studio together, you don’t have the opportunity to gel off each other.”

So far the group has recorded five new tracks for the EP, one of which Barker considers “very folky.”  This will be Blink 182’s first indie record since their 1994 debut Cheshire Cat. The band split ways with their longtime record label Interscope Records last month.

After the band finishes up their Australian tour in February, Blink 182 plans to begin writing and recording their next full-length album due for release in late 2013.
