The British boy band One Direction is taking over US television in a big way. Their hit single “What Makes You Beautiful” will appear on Glee.
Following in the footsteps of Madonna, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and fellow British boy band The Wanted, Matthew Morrison, who plays teacher Will Schuester on Glee, will cover the song.
When asked about One Direction Morrison responded, “I’ve just heard of them, they’re really taking over the States. We are covering one of their songs on ‘Glee’ – ‘What Makes You Beautiful’. I need to YouTube it to practice.”
“They’ve made it now though, they’re on Glee!” joked Morrison. “This will probably help their record sales too.”
The groups album sales is definitely on the top of its game. One Direction recently did something even The Beatles could never achieve; the group became the first UK band to score a #1 debut on the Billboard Top 200 chart.
Not all is well on the home-front though.
One Direction member Niall Horan (18) is reportedly steaming about the recent “sex ban” the group’s US bosses have instilled to maintain their squeaky-clean image.
A source close to Horan told UK’s The Sun: “He’s raging about it — all the lads are. Four of them are single and they’ve been told to stay that way as it appeals to their American teen fans.
“Niall is fighting off the women with his Irish accent and good looks so he’s having to live like a monk. Niall and the boys are being kept on a really tight leash and it is tough for them.
“But they are so determined to make it work in the States they’ll do whatever they are told. Quite simply a sex scandal over there would be the end of the band.”
Apparently Horan isn’t the only member in the group upset about the ban. Fellow band member Harry Styles (18), who recently got out of a relationship with British television presenter Caroline Flack (32), is said to be complaining about the new rules with the insider stating: “He’s come out of a relationship and wants to enjoy his freedom.
“But he’s having to behave himself and keep the women at arm’s length. They are all young lads and they have urges like anyone else their age.
“And the worst thing is the American girls are literally throwing themselves at them so there is so much temptation in their way.”
