Young Jeezy Gets A Name Change

Jay Wayne Jenkins, best known as Young Jeezy, has grown up and officially dropped ‘Young’ from his stage name.  In 2010, the artwork for his single “Lose My Mind” listed him simply as “Jeezy”, but nothing official had been announced until now.

“I’m grown now; I did enough of that,” Jeezy explained. “It sounds good because when I came in the game that’s who I was and that was my state of mind, but I’m a grown man. Those zeros get to adding up, you gotta drop the ‘young.'”

Jeezy started his career back in 2001 and was a former member of BMF (Black Mafia Family) before later joining Boyz n da Hood in 2005. In 2005, he released his first major solo debut Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101.  “Soul Survivor” ft. Akon was a top-ten hit in the US and launched the hip-hop star’s career.  HE received his first Grammy in 2009 and went on to win three more Grammys in 2010, 2011 and 2013.

Jeezy has announced that his next single will be called “Who You Love” feature Drake.  The LP, titled  My Krazy Life, will drop on November 19th.
