Philadelphia 76ers Lose 25 Straight Games

The Philadelphia 76ers are on their way to making NBA history for an unfortunate reason.

Monday night Philadelphia lost to the San Antonio Spurs with a score of 113-91, marking the 25th consecutive loss for the team and giving San Antonio their 14th straight win. Before the game, Spurs coach Greg Popovich said he felt terrible for his former assistant Brett Brown, who is now the 76ers coach.

“Obviously, it’s a rough season for them,” Spurs player Tim Duncan said. “It’s a rebuilding season for them. [Brown] knows that, they know that. They have a lot of young guys. He’s just trying to get the system in place that has them playing the way he wants them playing. It’s a process. He knows that.”

Philadelphia had hired Brown, hoping he would be able to bring the same structure to the team that made San Antonio successful.

In last night’s game, only seven of Philadelphia’s players scored, with six of them scoring in double figures.

“It felt like they were running 100 miles per hour out there,” 76er Thaddeus Young said. “You take one thing and they pick you apart with something else. You just have to pick your poison with a team like this. They have so many guys who can do different things and so many guys that can make plays.”

Philadelphia will next play Houston on Thursday. Currently, the 76ers are one loss away from tying the NBA record for most consecutive losses in a single-season, which was set by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2010-11.
