On Thursday, June 12, tons of fútbol fans will crowd Sao Paulo’s stunning new Corinthians Arena to watch the opening ceremony of the World Cup and kick-off match between Brazil and Croatia.
Highlighting the ceremony will be a performance from musical artists Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull and Claudia Leitte. The trio will invade the stadium for an epic performance of “We Are One (Ole Ola),” the official FIFA song. The group will be joined by armies of samba dancers, capoeira performers and Salvadorean drummers.
Earlier this week, Jennifer Lopez had reportedly cancelled her gig to perform at the opening ceremony, but thankfully, the singer has reversed her earlier decision.
“She will be there,” said a spokesperson for Lopez. “Jennifer has always wanted to participate in the World Cup opening ceremonies. We have been trying to work out scheduling and logistics. Any statements to the contrary were premature. Jennifer would not want to disappoint her fans or fans of fútbol.”
Live coverage of the World Cup Opening Ceremony begins on Thursday, June 12, at 7 PM on ITV and on ITV Player (desktop/iOS). You can also watch along online at itv.com/worldcup where in-match video clips, match commentary and live Opta stats will be available.
