AMC Apologizes for Spoiling ‘The Walking Dead’ Winter Finale

AMC has apologized to their fans for ruining the winter finale of their hit show The Walking Dead.

On Sunday night, 14.8 million viewers tuned in to watch the mid-season finale of The Walking Dead, but many viewers on the West Coast were not pleased when the cable network prematurely revealed which major character died before it officially aired on the West Coast.

At 10 p.m. Eastern time Sunday night, 7 p.m. in the West Coast, The Walking Dead Facebook page uploaded a photo of Daryl, played by Norman Reedus, carrying deceased Beth, played by Emily Kinney, with the caption “Rip Beth”.

This spoiler caused an uproar on social media, and fans who had not seen the winter finale were not pleased with the “RIP Beth” spoiler. AMC responded to fans Monday night by posting an apology on their Facebook page saying they were very sorry for revealing the spoiler too soon.

“We heard your feedback to last night’s post, and we’re sorry,” the statement reads. “With zero negative intent, we jumped the gun and put up a spoiler. Please know we’re going to work to ensure that, in the future, possible spoilers by official AMC social feeds are killed before they can infect, certainly before the West Coast (U.S.) broadcast of The Walking Dead. As always, thank you for watching, and keep the comments coming. We appreciate all of your support. #RIPSpoiler.”
