‘American Idol’ Judges Use ‘the Save’

The top seven “American Idol” finalists competed … and the top seven remained after the “American Idol” judges opted to save the singer with the least amount of votes.

Singers Joshua Ledet, Jessica Sanchez and Elise Testone were in the bottom three, but in the end, Sanchez gathered the least amount of votes from the public.

Based on her superior performance history, judges Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler saved Sanchez, but with that decision, two singers will be eliminated when they compete next week.

Ledet, from Westlake, La., joins Cavanagh, 18, from McKinney, Texas, and Skylar Laine from Mississippi, as the three remaining finalists who originally auditioned in Galveston.

As the finalists waited to learn who would be eliminated, they and the audience were treated to guest performances by rock singer James Durbin, who was a finalist during the tenth season of “American Idol,” and R&B singer Jennifer Hudson, who was a finalist during the third season of “American Idol.” Hudson was joined by Ne-Yo.

Dave Morales from Backstage OL analyzes ‘the save’ in this edition of ‘Idol Chatter.’
