American Idol judge Mariah Carey reportedly became extremely irate and hung up the phone after hearing the news of Nicki Minaj possibly being added to the judging panel on the FOX reality show.
Sources connected to American Idol told TMZ that one of the reasons why Mariah is so upset is because she believed she would be the only female on the show. If Minaj (29) is added, not only would Mariah (42) not be the only female on the show, but the producers would be adding a much younger star to the lineup.
As for the rest of the ‘Idol’ line-up there are two options.
First, it is unclear if Randy Jackson will come back as a judge or a mentor. If he leaves the judging panel then ‘Idol’ producers will have to fill the spot.
If Randy does stay, many of the ‘Idol’ honchos believe having two female judges and a single male judge would be a mistake. The second scenarios would include adding a second male judge if deemed necessary.
Brad Paisley, Keith Urban and Enrique Iglesias are reportedly in the running as Idol’s top picks.
