Fox Orders Batman Prequel TV Series ‘Gotham’

On Monday Fox announced that they are ordering the Batman prequel series titled Gotham which tells the story of future Batman police commissioner James Gordon, played by Ben McKenzie. Gotham will follow McKenzie’s character rise to prominence before Batman arrives to the city of Gotham.

The series will showcase untold stories of popular DC Comics and villains like a young Bruce Wayne/Batman, played by David Mazouz, Penguin, played by Robin Lord Taylor, Riddler, played by Cory Michael Smith and Catwoman played by Camren Bicondova. The show will also introduce a new character, Fish Mooney, which will be played by Jada Pinkett Smith and includes “Sons Of Anarchy” star Donal Logue as Detective Harvey Bullock.

Warner Bros. Television is producing the series and the pilot already started filming in March. An air date has not yet been released, but a spokesperson for Warner Bros. says Gotham is planned to air in the 2014-2015 season.
