‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ Streaming Final Season on Netflix

Emmy-award winning series Star Wars: The Clone Wars originally aired on Cartoon Network for five years, but was surprisingly canceled last year, leaving the series unresolved. However, the series’ sixth and final season will soon become available on Netflix.

Disney, Lucasfilm, and Netflix announced that the 13-episode season entitled “The Lost Missions” will premiere on Netflix on March 7. In addition, the five previous seasons and some director’s cut episodes will be available to stream. This marks the first time any Star Wars content has been featured on Netflix.

Star Wars is one of the most iconic franchises of all time and this series joins a long line of Disney content that Netflix members are and will continue to enjoy for years to come,” Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos stated in a press release.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars takes place between two of the Star Wars movie prequels, Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. It focuses on Jedi Knights like Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker before he becomes Darth Vader, and young apprentice Ahsoka Tano, as they engage in a galactic battles. The final season will show “a rift in the Force caused by Ahsoka Tano’s departure from the Jedi Order and the growing menace of various Sith Lords and apprentices.”

Clone Wars first began as a feature film in 2008 and then developed into a television series that aired on Cartoon Network. The channel canceled the series last year after Lucasfilm was purchased by the Walt Disney Company, a rival to the owner of Cartoon Network, Time Warner.

Disney also announced last week that another Star Wars animated series, Star Wars: Rebels, will be coming to the Disney Channel this fall and will feature the voice of Freddie Prinze Jr.
