The X Factor: First Live Eliminations

“The X Factor” kicked off the live show portion of the first season in style. 17 acts started the evening but only 12 were left when the two and half hour special ended. Each judge was responsible for cutting one of their four acts except for Simon Cowell who had to cut two. Last week after picking his four, he realized he made a mistake by sending Melanie Amaro home and extended an offer to her to come back. But it’s his show, so if he says, “I’m taking five constestants to the live shows,” then that’s the way it is.

Most of the acts rose to the occaision turning in starworthy performances. Brian ‘Astro’ Bradley opened the show with a knockout version of the Kris Kross classic “Jump.” LeRoy Bell wowed the crowd with his take on Pink’s “Nobody Knows” and the Stereo Hogzz dazzeled with an urban-electricfied version of “Tenderness” by the great Otis Redding.

But the best news of the night for anyone reading this from ‘H-Town’ is that fact that all the contestants from Houston made it through to the next round. Lakoda Rayne, InTenSity and Stereo Hogzz all feature local singers and based on last night’s performances, one them should be there on the final night.

Be sure to watch X Factor on Wednesday and Thursday nights on FOX!
