Weeds Will Be Canceled After Season 8

Showtime’s outrageously addictive series Weeds will end this year after 8 seasons.

Weeds an original cutting-edge pot comedy for Showtime was created by Jenji Kohan which premiered back in August 2005 and was an instant hit. Weeds starred a strong woman lead (Mary-Louise Parker) who got Showtime seriously recognized and created a lot of competition with the other premium cable networks.  Parker won a Golden Globe for her role on the show as a suburban pot dealer. Kohan and Parker are sad to have the show canceled, but the writer (Kohan) is happy for the opportunity she has to creatively conclude a show.

So far Kohan will have fans in this final season expect a time jump and a return to the suburbs along with solving the assassination cliffhanger. As for how the show will end, Kohan is still deciding on how to conclude Nancy’s (Parker) story, but Showtime knows Kohan will deliver her fans a good ending.

Season 8 of Weeds will premiere on Sunday July 1st, at 10pm on Showtime.
