Disney has given us our first look at Maleficent, starring Angelina Jolie as the wicked witch in the live adaptation of the Disney classic Sleeping Beauty.
The official teaser trailer showcases Jolie as Disney’s most iconic villain, Maleficent. The film tells the untold story of the beautiful, pure-hearted Maleficent who grows up in a peaceful forest kingdom until an invading army threatens everything she loves. Torn by betrayal, Maleficent turns in to an evil witch, hellbent on seeking revenge by placing a curse of Princess Aurora, played by Elle Fanning. Time will tell whether Princess Aurora holds the key to Maleficent’s heart, and can return happiness to the evil witch.
Four-year-old Vivienne Jolie-Pitt makes her big screen debut in Maleficent and even has a few lines in the film. We get a glimpse of Vivienne at the beginning of trailer where she is running through a meadow playing a young Princess Aurora. The other two “Brangelina” kids, Pax and Zahara, also have a role in the film but do not appear in the teaser.
Maleficent opens in theaters on May 30, 2014.
