Florence + The Machine Cancels Shows After Florence Loses Voice

Florence + The Machine has had to cancel two shows at European festivals this week after lead singer Florence Welch lost her voice.

The singer announced the news on twitter Wednesday saying, “hello everyone, thankyou so much for all your messages of support, yes its true..it finally happened, I’ve lost my voice.”

She continued, “I’ve sustained a vocal injury and been told i cannot sing for a week.., seriously i felt something snap, it was very frightening..unfortunately this means i will not be able to perform at Benicassim and Optimus alive festival this weekend..i am so so sorry.”

The group was suppose to perform at the Benicassim Festival in Spain on Thursday and Portugal’s Optimus Alive Festival on Saturday.

Welch is currently in recovery and in a positive mood thanks to her fans.

“Actually feeling a bit teary looking at all your messages…thankyou” she wrote. “I’m gonna get mended real quick and come sing all your houses down.”
