Houston’s Own Miss Mykie to Host B.E.T.’s 106 & Park

It was just another Sunday afternoon in the Yowman household.  Which meant it was time for the talent show. All nine children warmed up outside waiting for their turn to hit the stage in the family basement.  This go-around, ten year old Mykel Yowman stole the show; cementing the fact that her vocal talent deserved more than just the household award.

After years of coaching, working with top notch Houston producers and bouts with several female vocal groups, Miss Mykie decided to take a break from the Houston music scene to further her education.  Upon returning to Houston after graduation, Mykie linked up with well-known Houston platinum producer Yung Chill in 2007.

For the last five years Miss Mykie and Yung Chill have been combing the streets of downtown cities across the U.S; selling  Cd’s and passing out  flyers.  If it was a major event in the music industry, they were there promoting

A few weeks ago, Miss Mykie came to a crossroad. Having to make a decision between her job as a teacher or her growing career in music was like losing a piece of her heart.  It was a sad day for Miss Mykie to sign her resignation letter to a job she cherished so much.   Two weeks later, her hard work of promoting paid off.

Mykie received a phone call from B.E.T. (Black Entertainment Television) inviting her to be a guest on B.E.T.’s popular show, 106 & Park.  Within a short period, she was called back for a second and third appearance on the show.

Miss Mykie will be hosting 106 & Park this Monday-Thursday (September 24, 2012 – September 27, 2012).  On Monday September 31, 2012, the new hosts for 106 & Park will be announced live during the show.  Will Houston’s Miss Mykie get the spot?  Stay Tuned.  BackstageOL will have the exclusive.
