‘American Idol’ Top 8 Finalists Remain

After the top nine “American Idol” finalists moved into the mansion, one already had to pack their bags after being eliminated from the competition.

Singers Heejun Han, Hollie Cavanagh and Skylar Laine were in the bottom three, but in the end, Han was the contestant eliminated from the top nine finalists roster.

“American Idol” judges Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler did not opt to save Han from elimination, so that option remains for future rounds.

Cavanagh, 18, from McKinney, Texas, and Laine from Mississippi, who avoided elimination, are two of the three remaining finalists who originally auditioned in Galveston.

As the finalists waited to learn who would be eliminated, they and the audience were treated to guest performances by Nicki Minaj and “American Idol” season ten champion Scotty McCreery, who performed the song “Water Tower Town.” After McCreery finished singing, producer Jimmy Iovine presented the singer with a framed plaque of his platinum album “Clear As Day.”

FOX 26 reporter Ruben Dominguez and Dave Morales from Backstage OL analyze the elimination in this edition of ‘Idol Chatter.’
